I keep revisiting this for their gorgeous outdoor garden seating area, perfect for a coffee date or a relaxing hangout with your girl pals. The atmosphere is cozy, and the indoor seating faces the street for a lively vibe. Their coffee brews and the treats are rich and flavorful.

Very cute convert place! The line was way way out the door to the sidewalk, a good marker of hype on a Saturday morning. The (I assume) owner also came by to make sure the line people were satisfied, offering coffee. The two lattes I got (Queen Bee and Wildflower) were great. Great body and craft, not too sweet. Also please that it was not, in my opinion, egregiously expensive ($5 and $5.5).

I came here for the first time and tried their Loco Mocha. It was just the right amount of flavor without being overly sweet. It came up to around $7 which isn't too bad. The barista girls were also really polite and I am so happy to receive such awesome service from them! The Mocha served hot is a perfect drink for a chilly fall/winter weather day. I hope to come back again soon! 😊

I don't get to Matthews very often, but I was wandering around today and trying out a few new grocery stores for the weekly shop. Somewhere between comparing produce sections and debating which store had the better bakery, I felt the familiar need for coffee and decided to stop at Brakeman's Coffee & Supply for a cortado. It turned out to be exactly the kind of local spot that makes these little detours worthwhile. The shop is a converted home, and you can feel that history in the layout. There are all these neat little nooks and corners where you can settle in for a while, whether you're on the wifi or actually having a real conversation with another human being. My cortado was excellent, rich and balanced and served just the way I like it (other than paper cup), and it set the tone for a surprisingly productive stretch of time. I ended up spending about two hours here, writing reviews, refining the shopping list, and enjoying the quiet rhythm of the place. The wifi is incredibly fast, the seating in this small parlor room was comfortable, and the whole environment encourages you to stay longer than you planned. It's the kind of coffee shop where you could easily lose an entire morning without meaning to, and I mean that in the best possible way.

Coffee run was on top of our itinerary when we went to Downtown Matthews and there was a “Fall for Matthews” event that day. Since Brakeman’s is situated right in the heart of downtown, there was already a long line by the time we got there. It had been on our must-try list but never got the chance to until that day so I didn’t mind lining up. Husband had a latte and I had chai (w/ double choco chip muffin) - we were both pleased with our hot beverages as well the friendliness of the staff. We liked that aside from sofas & tables, there were also bar seats inside the shop, seating areas on the front lawn and even on their patio. Their coffee is locally sourced from Davidson, NC. I love supporting local/small businesses and was delighted when I found that out from their website. ✨ We look forward to going back! ☕️

A nice, cozy cafe with nice chill music ideal to work or study (many people go there for that) or to relax by reading, drawing, or talking quietly 💬 They got a good variety of coffee and desserts, as well as seasonal specials and decaffeinated drinks, I haven't tried many of their pastries yet, but the cream cheese Danish was super delicious 🤍 My favorite so far is the matcha with white chocolate sauce 🍵 It has somewhat limited but comfortable seating, as well as a refrigerator with a couple of different food and drink options as well as 🆓 water next to the sweeteners for anyone who needs it 🍶 Oh! And they also have really nice merchandise like shirts, mugs, their coffee ☕️ and art 🖼️ PD: These are three different matcha drinks: one with lavender, another with vanilla (the one that comes with dessert), and another with chocolate 🍫

Absolutely loved this coffee shop. Good luck finding parking if its busy. My son and I enjoyed the many options and fun decor throughout the shop. It was a great spot to study or hang out with colleagues. The service was fast and efficient. The vibe is definitely a cool spot. Lots of things going on in there. There are shirts as well and good healthy options too. Right off the main road we parked in the back and walked through the old house setup to the front to order our drinks. Option to sit outside as well.

Wonderful shop with some well priced and delicious vegan pastry, vegan prepared food and non-coffee drink options! There are several different indoor and outdoor seating options of all types - arm chairs, smaller tables, larger tables, etc. It’s a great place to get work done (they have wifi) or meet up with someone. Highly recommend!

Today I went to the hospital to visit someone, and when I left, I looked for a coffee shop. That's when I found this café. It's a really cute place with lovely decor. It's an old house, and the entire house is part of the coffee place. There are tables everywhere inside, in front, and behind the house. Super cute. We ordered cappuccinos with oat milk, and my husband had a decaf Americano. Both were delicious, in terms of aroma, texture, and flavor. You really have to try it. The blueberry one was also different from the usual, and it's really worth it. For me, who loves spending quality time with my caregivers from the agency, this place is perfect for coming with them and chatting over delicious coffee in a relaxing atmosphere

Lovely coffee shop for meet ups or work. Their lattes are amazing and so is the atmosphere. They have WiFi and a small work area in the back where it’s less noisy. When the weather permits, their outside patio is delightful. If you visit on the weekends, it’s extra busy because the local’s know it’s a great place for coffee and friends.
